SIHANOUKVILLE: Those visiting the beaches of Sihanoukville for the New Year celebration will receive free public high-speed WiFi during the holiday.

Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Long Dimanche confirmed to EAC that free public WiFi will be installed at three light poles along Ochheuteal Beach and three more on Otres Beach. The system is provided by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications with the coordination of Sihanoukville Governor Kouch Chamroeun to provide convenience to tourists.

The director of the Sihanoukville Department of Tourism, Tang Socheth Krisna, confirmed that usually on weekends, the beaches of Sihanoukville can attract a large number of tourists. He hopes that free internet will encourage tourists to visit even more. He noted that free internet access can facilitate long-term beach entertainment.

Taing Socheth Krisna said the provincial administration will bulk up security and the Coast Guard to prevent any risks and accidents that may occur over the holiday weekend.

He hopes that the province will be able to host more than 200,000 tourists for New Year’s, as hotels and resorts in the province are almost fully booked.

Prime Minister Hun Manet has instructed the Ministry of Tourism to cooperate with local administrations to provide decorations and entertainment for the international holiday across Cambodia.
